QC HALL READY FOR NEW SALARY ADJUSTMENT

Quezon City is ready to implement the 3rd tranche of the salary standardization scheme for government workers.

On the eve of QC’s celebration of its 72nd founding anniversary, Mayor Herbert Bautista assured the more than 5,000 regular city hall employees that the city government has enough funds to meet the requirements of the salary standardization law.

“Sinisiguro po natin na may pondo tayo para dito,” Bautista said.

According to the Mayor, the city will need about P388 million to implement the new round of salary adjustment, which will take effect January 1 next year.

As mandated by Executive Order 811, the salary rates for local government personnel shall be determined by the sanggunian or the city council, on the basis of the income class and financial capability provided that such salary rates shall not exceed the personal services cost limitation in local government budgets.

Bautista described the grant of the increase as a means of helping city hall employees cope up with day-to-day economic difficulties.

“What the city government is doing right now is honor our commitment to our employees,” the Mayor said.

Bautista also announced the grant of increase in the salary of employees covered by contract of services.

Given the city’s huge requirements for the salary increases, the Mayor admitted that his administration is “going through a strenuous exercise to fix our budget to accommodate all our development needs.”

“This has urged us to study very intently our revenue sources, find out where we are missing opportunities, and where we can reduce delinquencies,” Bautista said.

To date, QC has about 5,305 permanent employees and 5,786 contractual personnel and consultants. Precy/ Ej/ Maureen Quiñones, PAISO
