PDEA OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE ACQUITTAL OF BRODETT AND JOSEPH

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) respects the decision of the court.

This is the statement of the Director General of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Undersecretary Jose S Gutierrez Jr. after Judge Juanita Guererro acquitted Richard Brodett and Jorge Joseph this morning for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002.

As the lead anti-drug agency, PDEA is saddened with result of the long legal battle which lead to the acquittal of Brodett and Joseph, however, it acknowledges the finality of the decision of the court.

Gutierrez already instructed the legal service of the Agency to review the transcript of the decision rendered by Judge Juanita Guerrero of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 for future reference of the Agency.
