QC MUSEUM TO RISE AT QMC

Quezon City will soon have its own museum to enable visitors and tourists at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) to have glimpses of the city’s rich history.

In a regular executive meeting, QC Mayor Herbert M. Bautista revealed that a ground breaking ceremony for the QC museum had already been scheduled and it will be immediately followed by the construction process that is expected to end in six months time.

The QC Museum, which will be a 1,000 square-meter landmark designed by popular architect Jun Palafox, will be located near the Peace Bell Shrine at the QMC.

To showcase the city’s culture and the arts, the city museum will help citizens have a higher level of awareness of the past from the Cry of Pugad Lawin to the inaugural party of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquno III at the QMC on June 30, 2010 .

Mayor Bautista also said that he is planning to transfer the QC Public Library, which is presently situated at the back of QC Hall High Rise Building, to a section of the museum.

He added that he will approve the additional budget amounting to P91 million for the QC museum once the QC Public Library is integrated with the museum.

He believes that the museum and the city’s public library should be located in one common place for the convenience of students and visitors. Maureen Quiñones, PAISO
