MORE QC INFRA PROJECTS BEING PLANNED

The Quezon City government is set to build more infrastructures, including fire stations, police stations and parks, to provide better public service to the city’s more than 2.6 million residents.

The plan was bared by Mayor Herbert M. Bautista during a regular executive staff meeting, where the city’s disaster preparedness plans were also discussed with other concerned agencies like PAG-ASA, PHILVOCS, Philippine Red Cross (PRC), and National Disaster Risk Reduction Council (NDRRC).

Bautista directed city administrator Victor Endriga to immediately identify the lots   that the city could purchase to be the sites for fire stations, police stations and parks.

The mayor said that as early as possible, the city should have a list of lots that could be procured for infrastructure projects.

“We should know by now our target lots to be procured so that we can plan ahead. We all know that the development of many areas will have to be pushed through,” he said.

The city’s development plans include the expansion of the Melchora Aquino Shrine, which will soon also be the site of a museum dedicated to the Grand Old Lady of the Katipunan.

Due to the expansion program for the shrine, clearing of sidewalks along the Tandang Sora area will soon be started. The mayor has already instructed the concerned city  officials to conduct a series of dialogues with establishment owners in the area on the city’s plan to recover the sidewalks with illegal structures along Tandang Sora to Visayas Avenue. -30- Maureen Quinones, PAISO
